Intense Pulse Light Therapy
The photofacials use Intense Pulsed Light which is a very successful treatment that has been around since the early 1990s to treat a variety of skin conditions including broken capillaries, rosacea, acne, sun damage, hair removal and specific types of vascular lesions. Intense Pulse Light works by emitting a bright flash of light that penetrates deep beneath the surface of your skin to selectively target blood vessels and hyperpigmentation lesions.

Can I be bulked bill for my appointment?
Yes, in some cases. At Vincentia Laser & Skin Clinic we can provide a number of IPL medical services under the auspices of Medicare. Patients with active inflammatory acne, rosacea, facial hirsutism (excess hair growth caused by hormonal abnormality) or severe facial sun damage will be able to have their appointments bulk billed in some circumstances. Please understand that certain requirements must be met before we can bulk bill the appointment. A consultation will determine your suitability.
What can I expect from IPL?
A thick cooling gel will be applied to your face beforehand to reduce the temperature of your skin. You will need to put on dark goggles to protect your eyes from the light energy. You will then have a spot test to make sure that device settings are appropriate for your skin type. IPL should not be painful but there may be a mild amount of discomfort that is likened to that of a rubber band snapping on your skin. The procedure takes about twenty minutes in total to complete.
The results from the photo facial will appear gradually over a period of 3 months. The recommended number of sessions is between 4-6 treatments done at monthly intervals for photofacial and 6-10 treatments for hair removal over the course of a year.
